A Bodhisattva is an enlightened existence or an enlightenment-being. Traditionally, a Bodhisattva is anyone who, motivated by great compassion, has a spontaneous wish to attain Buddha hood. This standing Bodhisattva is modelled after the Guanyins of the Tang Dynasty period – a golden age of Chinese arts with intricate and opulent style of design and ornamentation.
This artwork is lightly varnished so as to retain and highlight its fine wood grain. The wood’s natural light soft colour lends a contemporary finish to this highly intricate and classical artwork.
